Language development is indeed closely linked to cognitive growth in preschoolers. As their vocabulary expands and sentences become more intricate, it shows their improving ability to think, reason, and communicate effectively.
Language helps them express their thoughts, negotiate with peers, and even regulate their emotions. Engaging in conversations, reading books, and playing word games can further enhance their language and thinking skills.
The following are guidelines taken from a number of sources. They will help you know what to expect and encourage next with your child’s language development, or when to consider a referral to a speech language therapist. It does not include everything and it is important to remember that there is variation in children’s language development.
